Gantt chart PDFs that fit on one page.
NeoGantt exports any Gantt chart as a vector PDF fitted to one A4 page, landscape or portrait, or to a single page sized to the whole plan. Text stays sharp on a projector, colours print as they look on screen, and your logo sits in the corner of every board pack and proposal.
How to export a Gantt chart to PDF
- Click Export PDF in the chart’s toolbar. The export page opens in a new tab, laid out for A4 landscape, and your browser’s print dialog opens on top of it.
- To change the page, close the dialog, pick A4 portrait or Full size in the bar at the top, and click Print / Save as PDF. The layout redraws before the dialog reopens.
- Set the destination to Save as PDF, not a printer. The file is named after the chart.
Nobody fiddles with print areas, page breaks or scaling percentages the night before the board meeting.
Three ways to put a plan on paper.
| Mode | What happens | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| A4 landscape | The timeline widens to suit the page’s shape, then the whole chart scales to fit one sheet with 10mm margins. | Board packs, proposals, status reports, most plans |
| A4 portrait | The chart scales to fit one upright page in both directions, so nothing is cut off at the side. | An appendix in a document, shorter plans |
| Full size | Every day is drawn at the editor’s standard width, and the PDF page is sized to the chart itself: one page, however long the plan. | Zooming into detail on screen, large-format printing, the archive copy |
What’s on the page
- The chart name, its date range and the date you exported it
- Every group, task and milestone in its chart colour
- Weekends as thin strips when the chart skips them
- Your organisation’s logo in the corner, instead of ours
- The live share link under the title, if the chart has one (untick Include share link to leave it off)
- Comments, which stay on the share page
Sharp on a projector, searchable in an inbox
A screenshot is a grid of pixels. Put it on an A3 printout or a meeting-room screen and the task names turn to mush. A vector PDF stores text as text and bars as shapes, so it stays crisp at any size, and someone can search it for “UAT” and find the bar.
Colours print as they look in the editor, background fills included. If blue means your team and orange means the client, it still does on paper.
A printout that knows it might be out of date.
A PDF is frozen on the day you made it. NeoGantt softens that in two ways.
If the chart has a share link, the export prints it under the title as “Live chart”, next to the export date. Anyone holding last month’s copy can see how old it is and where the current version lives.
People viewing the share link can also export their own PDF, with the same three page modes and your logo. The client who wants a copy for their board makes one from the latest version, without emailing you first.
PDF export questions
Is PDF export included on the Free plan?
Yes. Free accounts export PDFs, and so does anyone viewing a share link.
How do I fit a long Gantt chart on one page?
Pick A4 landscape. NeoGantt widens the layout for tall charts and scales the result to fit one page. Collapse groups you don't need in detail first: a collapsed group prints as a single summary bar.
Can I export to Excel, PNG or Microsoft Project?
No. PDF is the only export format. Most presentation tools accept a PDF where you'd use an image, and because it's vector it scales without blurring.
Why does the print dialog open?
NeoGantt hands the finished page to your browser's print dialog, and its Save as PDF option writes a true vector file. Choose Save as PDF as the destination rather than a printer.
